John Haggerty is an energetic and enthusiastic musician with over fifteen years of teaching experience. He began studying the violin at age 8 and then became interested in music composition in his teenage years. John's interest in composition led him to study multiple instruments and now specializes in violin, viola, cello and piano. John received his BM in Jazz-Commercial Music Composition from Towson University in 2012; he then sought further education at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where he received an MM in Music Composition and an MM in Music Theory Pedagogy in 2015. John has studied with many prestigious performers and pedagogues including Jeffrey Howard, Cecylia Barczyk, Michael Hersch, Jonathon Leshnoff, Eva Mengelkoch, and Kip Wile. John has experience teaching both privately and in group settings to students of all ages with diverse backgrounds. As a passionate pedagogue and firm believer that music has the power to change lives for the better, John is committed to fostering students' skills and musical knowledge in an enjoyable and exciting learning environment.
